All eating
facilities, water supplies and washrooms are in accordance with
and
exceed ministry of health requirements.

Staff Members
Over the
winter, our supervisors partake in operational, leadership and
administration training. We review each contract, our training
model, and safety and daily functions. All our cooks attend
Regional Health Unit food handling courses, as well as extensive
workshops on balanced nutrition and camp administration. Prior to
the season start, staff gather in Sudbury to review jobs and to
train and review safety in all areas of the job.
Assured of Success
Through
planning, review and implementation, we have found the response to
our training program is excellent. Results on quality are
immediate. We guarantee a steady start for new and experienced
planters, and a smooth transition to help planters reach a stage
where they are maximizing their earning potential.
The end result - a job completed above the quality standard, an
efficient and timely close to the contract, and all three parties
more than satisfied!

Our Training Program
We are one
of a handful of companies registered with the Ontario Forestry
Safe Workplace
Association for their Safe Workplace Organization
program.
How did we
get to the point where we are asked to bid exclusively with only 2
other companies,
on many contracts?
Why does A&M
also have one of the highest tree per planter ratios in Northern
Ontario?
The
answer... through hard work, collective experience and a thorough
training program.
Our training program is part of our Quality
Management System, once registered to ISO 9001:2000
and through
this, we have succeeded in ensuring the following objectives are
accomplished...
- a
complete understanding of a quality tree
- a
thorough demonstration of how to plant that quality tree
- a
controlled, in the field "class room" atmosphere in which to
learn and experiment
-
immediate feedback and correction of individual and group
mistakes
-
interaction with a client representative for demonstration plots
follow-up and review at day's
end with open discussion among
small groups
In our first
day of field training we also incorporate work site safety (PPE),
fire safety and
equipment training, personal body management (i.e.
hydration, food, sun), bear safety, block
orientation and planter
etiquette. Back in camp we review the day and discuss first aid,
evacuation
plans and answer any questions.
